Contemporary artist and sculptor Ingrid Donat attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris to pursue her passion for sculpture. In the formative years of her career the artist and designer was greatly influenced by many relevant figures of the Parisian artistic scene, amongst others her mentor Diego Giacometti, who introduced her to furniture-making. Donat skilfully includes references to tribal art and Art Deco in her unique and meticulously engraved patterns, creating furniture which, as the artist herself states, ‘has to be discrete above all, and elegant’.
