QING DYNASTY, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
The brush pot is carved with a continuous scene of two scholars seated in a boat under an awning with two attendants, the one in the bow fanning the fire under a wine pot, while the boatman in the stern poles the vessel through the river amidst grass, rocks and trees in the background, all above a slightly rounded band of petal lappets near the foot and below a band of key fret on the flat rim. The interior is lacquered in black and the base in brown.
