AN AMBER-GLAZED POTTERY EWER
LIAO DYNASTY, LATE 10TH-11TH CENTURY
Two sides of the pear-shaped body are incised with a hare seated amidst plants, the two scenes separated by a tasseled rope strap applied below the spout on one side and the double-strap handle surmounted by a human head on the other side, all under a white slip and rich amber glaze that ends irregularly above the foot.
