A GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF A BUDDHIST LION
17TH CENTURY
The recumbent lion is depicted with its head turned to one side, its front paws resting below and its hind legs tucked under its body. Its mane and tail are finely cast with tight curls and the prominent vertebrae of its curved backbone are elegantly picked out. There is a circular aperture to the top of the lion's back.
