A YELLOW-GLAZED DISH
JIAJING SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1522-1566)
The dish is raised on a low tapering foot ring and has rounded sides. It is covered inside and out with a glaze of rich egg-yolk yellow, the base is glazed white.
8 ¾ in. (22.5 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

Yellow-glazed dishes of this type with Jiajing marks have been found crafted in graduated sizes, and several of smaller size have been sold at Christie's New York, compare a single dish at 15.5 cm. diam. sold on 20 September 2005, lot 267; a pair at 17.7 cm. diam. sold on 19 September 2007, lot 283 (7 in. diam.); and a dish at 19.7 cm. diam. sold on 17-18 September 2015, lot 2196.
