JIAQING SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820)
The exterior is painted in shades of cobalt blue to depict four characters, wan shou wu jiang (boundless longevity), each enclosed by a circle of ruyi-heads, separated from each other by two of the bajixiang and lotus sprays. The interior is decorated with a shou medallion surrounded by the bajixiang.
7 ¼ in. (18.6 cm.) diam.
Provenance
Private English collection, acquired by a Protestant missionary in Beijing in the 19th century, then by descent within the family.
