Details
Château d'Yquem 1944
Sauternes, 1er grand cru classé
Corroded capsules, three with signs of old seepage. Very dusty badly bin-soiled labels. Levels: one top-shoulder, three just below top-shoulder and two upper-shoulder.
Tasting note: Deep amber color. Old caramel on fairly sweet nose followed by dried flowers and marmalade. Later on more smoky tones presenting even more charm.
Refined taste, drier than expected at first. Indian spices and dried oranges prevailed on the aromatic palette. After half an hour showing more smoothness. Refined class! Last tasted April 2017. EV.
