Lot Essay

Rolex has already proven a pioneer in mixing exclusivity with sporty appeal: in the 1980s they released the bejewelled manual Daytonas references 6269 and 6270, and over the 1990s some trials were made with the Zenith Daytonas as well.

The Daytona chronograph 116599 series impresses with the quality of the gem-setting to the case and dial. With diamond studded bezel and pavé-set diamond dial, the wristwatch displays the talent and the level of skills Rolex has in creating such technically challenging and lavishly-set timepieces.

The present 116599TBR is among the rarest of configurations for the reference with a square-cut diamond-set bezel. Offered in "NOS" new old stock condition with its Rolex International Warranty card and box, it is part of the very last batch of reference 116599TBR before it was discontinued.

For an example of a reference 116599RBR, please see Lot 2352 in this sale.
