Reference 5513 was launched in 1962, depth rated to 200 meters (660 ft), and was fitted with a 7 mm. crown and crown guards. It was also notable for having a bezel with minute divisions for the first fifteen minutes and silver triangle as well as a black dial with gilt printing. Gilt printing was used only for early dials (such as the present example) before Rolex started to use white printing from the 1970s onwards.
