QIANLONG WHEEL-CUT FOUR-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN a DOUBLE SQUARE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)

The present water pot of ruby red tone was a colour first introduced to the Chinese artisans by Killian Stumpf when he set up the Imperial glassworks in 1696. It became a favourite colour at Court throughout the eighteenth century.
