Lot Essay

The Chopard tourbillon movements bearing the Chopard insignia began in 2003. After several years of developmental work came the L.U.C. Caliber 1.02 which was the world's first wristwatch tourbillon with manual winding and four barrels, each of which contains a 47-cm-long mainspring. This enables the caliber to store sufficient energy for 216 hours (nine days) of uninterrupted running so the new owner of this watch will only need to use the accompanying winding tool once each week. The additional two days of unused power reserve provide a comfortable margin and enhance the stability of the complex mechanism's rate.

The present watch is number 56 in a limited edition of 100 examples.
