The Reynaud family began working at the property in 1880. Second generation winemaker, Louis Reynaud began bottling the estate wines in Chateauneauf-du-pape and added ‘Premier Grand Cru’ to his labels which gained him notoriety further afield. Emmanuel Reynaud is the current winemaker, crafting superb vintages since 1997 when his uncle Jacques died. Rayas is produced from a beautiful sequence of cool climate vineyards in the southern Rhone. It is aged in 30 year old barrels for 16 months and the wines are exceptional, long-lived expressions of Grenache. The second wine, Pignan is produced from vineyards further north and some of the crop includes younger vine Grenache. Chateau Fonsalette, Cotes du Rhone is a blend of 50% Grenache, 35% Cinsault and 15% Syrah.
