Lot Essay

Hua Ziyou, sobriquet Yaomin, was a painter in the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). His painting style was inspired by that of Li Gonglin of the Northern Song dynasty (960-1279) and featured a refined and skillful outline painting of figures. Hua Ziyou was especially known for his paintings of arhats.
