A PALE-GREEN JADE ARCHAISTIC CENSER, FANG DING
18TH-19TH CENTURY
The jade vessel is carved in imitation of an archaic bronze with a rectangular body raised on four cabriole elephant-head supports and with two upright handles. The sides are decorated with a taotie mask below a band of confronting mythical beasts, and kui dragons, all divided by notched flanges. The jade is of a greenish tone with pale russet inclusions and dark brown veins.
