A PAIR OF FAMILLE ROSE 'HUNDRED BATS' BOTTLE VASES
GUANGXU SIX-CHARACTER MARKS IN IRON-RED AND OF THE PERIOD (1875-1908)
Each vase is decorated to the globular body with a dense-pattern of iron-red bats in flight amongst lingzhi-shaped clouds, all between a petal-lappet band to the foot and a band of lotus sprays alternating with gilt shou characters to the shoulder. The neck is similarly decorated below a band of ruyi-heads enclosing the mouth rim.
