With the passing of Karl Lagerfeld, the industry lost a creative genius. This piece, specially curated for the Spring 2019 auction, is an ode to the designer’s most rare and quirky runway styles. Inspired by the iconic toy, the Lego clutch was first released in 2012 on the Spring/Summer 2013 runway. Upon release pieces were made in extremely limited quantities and quickly sold out worldwide, making this rare piece highly coveted and collectible. While Chanel is mostly known for their quilted bags in lambskin or caviar leather, the Lego clutch is made of plexiglass, in a range of different colours, just like the toy behind Lagerfeld’s inspiration. This unusual runway style is a true Chanel ‘it’ bag and has the power to stand out in the most fashionable crowds.
