An early 19th Century wrought and cast iron and brass single cylinder side lever beam engine, with cylinder 1¾in. bore x 2¼in. stroke, eccentric and quadrant operated valve with barrelled rods and waisted crosshead, barrelled connecting rods with gibbed and cottered big and little ends and waisted crosshead, double beams supported on turned pillars, the crankshaft mounted on decoratively turned tapered columns with central webbs and built up spoked flywheel, hand made square headed nuts and bolts and wood plinth, unpainted -- 10½ x 16in.
