LMS (ex LNWR) 4-4-0 locomotive and tender No. 2663 'Prince of Wales' and the 0-6-0 side tank locomotive 'Satis', both 3½in. gauge finely engineered by S. Northend and mounted in a common glazed mahogany display case -- 16 x 56 x 19in. (40.5 x 142.3 x 48.3cm.)
The 'Prince of Wales' with superheated copper boiler with fittings including twin water gauges (glasses not fitted), safety, blower, injector, steam brake, whistle, clack and other valves. Chassis details include twin inside cylinders with Joy valve gear, fluted coupling rods, mechanical lubricator, eccentric driven feed pump and by-pass, steam operated brake gear, sanding boxes, working leaf springs to bogie, the tender with hand feed pump, hand operated brake gear, working leaf springs, water cock, tool boxes, steps, hand and lamp irons, finished in black and polished brightwork -- 9½ x 39in. (24.2 x 99cm.)
The 'Satis' with superheated copper boiler with normal fittings (some valves not connected), twin outside cylinders with Baker valve gear, footplate controlled draincocks, fluted motion, mechanical lubricator, hand feed pump, oil pots and pipes to all axle bearings, finished in red with red and 'gold' lining -- 10¼ x 25½in. (26 x 64.7cm.); and a model Duplex hand feed pump; and a framed Diploma of Merit presented to A. Northend d/d 13th Sept. 1930; a framed photograph; and a framed letter and article from Model Engineer Magazine d/d 3 April 1947
