The well engineered 4in. scale Burrell Double Crank Compound two speed three shaft General Purpose Traction Engine 'Young Winston' built by M.K. Frost and D.K. Walden, 1972 for Sir William McAlpine -- 45 x 75in. (114.3 x 190.5cm.)
with welded steel boiler, hydraulic tested to 150psi 12.12.95 and with fittings including water gauge with shut-off cocks, pressure gauge, safety, blower, simpling, injector, water lift, whistle and clack valves, blowdown plug and mud doors. Engine details include twin cylinders 2¼ and 2¾in. bores x 4in. stroke, footplate controlled draincocks and pipework, mechanical lubricator, studded stuffing boxes, drip tray and drainpipe, Stephenson's link reverse, wedged and bolted big ends, counterbalanced crankshaft, eccentric driven feed pump and by-pass, two road speeds and spoked flywheel. Chassis details include worm and roller chain steering, spoked straked wheels with brass hubcaps and rubber tyres, footplate controlled damper, winch drum, cable and fairleads, water lift and pipe, injector, whistle, pickering type governor, band brake to rear axle, wooden footboard and tool box and driver's seat. Firing irons, boiler certificate; and a four wheel trailer with pneumatic tyres, 'A' frame, turning lock, the wooden body with seats for four adults and drop down tailgate -- 32¼ x 60in.
