Lieutenant A.J. Jessopp, R.F.C. (b.1884), served with 56 Squadron and was killed in action on 12th May 1917.
After taking off from Vert Galand aerodrome at 6.30pm on 12/5/17 flying SE.5A A4860, Jessopp proceeded as an offensive patrol ten miles east of the line La Bassee-Vimy Ridge. He was reported missing after his aircraft was last seen in a spin and breaking up under enemy fire over Lens.
