ASTRONAUT FOOD SAMPLES – Sealed food items, c. 1969.

Intact food samples from Tom Stafford's training for Apollo 10.

A signed provenance letter from Tom STAFFORD rates the food items in this lot: "These food items were leftovers from training for my Apollo X flight of May 1969. They are BROWNIES with ID number 9182 and PINEAPPLE FRUITCAKE with ID number 8317. There is also a white cleaning towel which was a nice item to have after eating. The small red velcro squares are indicators for flight commander issued items. The brownies were quite good, a great snack item. As for the fruitcake, well, it did nothing to improve the reputation or jokes of its earthbound cousin!"

Sealed food packages, 3.5 inches square and 3.25 by 4.75 inches. NASA ID 9182 and 8317. Both have a small red Velcro tab which is a NASA designation for food issued to the flight commander.
