Oval gold-lined box, the cover, sides and base inset with glazed miniatures in the Dutch style depicting interior scenes mounted en cage, the cagework with entrelac ribbons in two-colour gold on a sablé ground, the border of the cover with slightly raised foliage in two-colour gold, with foliate column pilasters

Auguste-Gaspard Turmine became master in Paris in 1778 sponsored by François Georges. By 1781, he had moved from the rue St-Martin to the rue Bourg-l’Abbé where he remained until his death in 1786. In his death announcement in the Journal de Paris, he was described as marchand orfèvre, bijoutier et tablettier.
