Arthur E Pearce worked for Doulton at Lambeth between 1873 and 1930. Pearce specialised in designs for tiles and architectural ornament, designing nearly all the Doulton Pavillions for the main International exhibitions. He was one of the artists consulted by John Slater for the early artistic development of the Burslem factory. His high regard is confirmed by the signatures of the top Doulton artists of this period which include: George Tinworth, John Broad, F.C. Pope, Leslie Harradine, and Harry Simeon.
