Lot Essay

The present work is a portrait of the artist and model, Sally Ryan. Ryan was a close friend of the artist Sir Jacob Epstein. She collaborated with Epstein's wife, Kathleen Garman, to develop his art collection which is now housed at the New Art Gallery in Walsall, England.
