Lot Essay

J.P Duvelleroy, in his Rapport du Jury of the Paris exhibition described Van der Voorde as the third great fan maker in Paris. He is certainly the rarest presumably because he did not sign many fans. This is the first we have sold. He was still working in 1878 when he exhibited at the Competitive Exhibition ofFans in London at Drapers' Hall
