As A. Hermary and J.R. Mertens inform (p. 84 in The Cesnola Collection of Cypriot Art: Stone Sculpture) the appearance of a wreath or diadem on Cypriot figures in the second half of the 6th century B.C. reflects a contemporaneous development in Aegean sculpture of this period where kouroi from the Acropolis are also shown wearing headgear. The connection between Cyprus and Greece is further expressed in the decidely Greek himation worn by this votary.
