The medicinal and chemical recipes begin from the other end of the album, containing recipes for dyes, ointments, and even a “Surfeit Water” made of poppies boiled in brandy.

Contemporary quarter calf over marbled boards, printed “Arithmetical Tables” pasted to lower board (boards very worn and spine perishing, some leaves detached); in custom slipcase and chemise. Provenance: Elizabeth Hardy – Anita Baldwin (engraved bookplate).
