She was an influential figure in cultural, social and literary circles in both the United States and Britain and a board member at a number of prestigious art museums: the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh, the Royal Academy in London and the Metropolitam Museum of Art in New York.Over the course of her three-decade marriage to Henry J. ‘Jack’ Heinz II (1908-1987), of the Heinz foods empire, Drue, who was born in England, assembled a remarkable collection of fine and decorative arts. Much of her collection was formed after her marriage to H.J. Heinz in 1953. Although he joked that "My wife is the art connoisseur, I live from snowfall to snowfall," Jack, the avid skier, was interested in and supported acquisitions. Masterpieces from the Collection of Drue Heinz were included in the New York Impressionist and Modern evening sale in May this year, with further highlights offered in specialist sales throughout the year in London and New York.
