According to the Archives of Audemars Piguet, the present watch was sold in 1951 to Sarcar, a Geneva based watch company who supplied timepieces to Italy and Spain at this period.
The case of this watch consists of a United States of America Twenty Dollars gold coin from 1899. It is part of a series of three different United States of America Twenty Dollars gold coin watches including ref. 5610, 5610A (watch fitted on leather strap) and the present model reference 510BA.
Audemars Piguet have been using finest ultra-thin movements for their coin watches since at least 1926. Besides the classical United States of America 20 Dollars, the firm used also French Napoleon of 100 Francs and the Mexican 50 Pesos for these models.
