Lot Essay

The present timepiece is an attractive and well-preserved example of the “Pre-Daytona” reference 6238. Its dial features the designation "Oyster Chronograph" and "Anti-Magnetic" as well as both telemeter and tachymeter scales, typical characteristics of the preceding reference 6234.

Ref. 6238
Amongst collectors, reference 6238 is often referred to as the "Pre-Daytona" and enjoys today growing popularity within the community of Rolex aficionados. Launched in 1960, reference 6238 was the company's last traditional chronograph wristwatch with polished bezel.
