A PAIR OF FRENCH 'JAPONISME' ORMOLU AND ENAMELLED CERAMIC TRAYS
CIRCA 1870
Each diamond-shaped tray with ormolu border edged with cloud motifs and flanked to each side with lingzhi-form handles decorated with bamboo and cherry blossoms, one tray finely enamelled with a tit bird among lotus and flowering brush against a yellow-ground lakeside landscape, the other centred by a scene of figures dining beside a lake framed within a gilt cartouche and surrounded by pachworrk scenes of further waterscapes and floral motifs against a cream ground
1 ½ in. (4 cm.) high; 18 ¾ in. (47 cm.) wide; 13 in. (33 cm.) deep

These lots have been imported from outside the EU for sale using a Temporary Import regime. Import VAT is payable (at 5%) on the Hammer price. VAT is also payable (at 20%) on the buyer’s Premium on a VAT inclusive basis.
