A STONE AXE
NEOLITHIC PERIOD, LOWER YANGTZE RIVER REGION, CIRCA 3300-2200 BC
The axe is convex on both faces with a circular aperture on near the butt and flares slightly towards the curved cutting edge. Except for one perpendicular corner, all three other corners are rounded. The stone is of an even greenish-black colour with some darker veining.
