A large pair of Chinese red lacquer tapering quatrefoil vases
carved with shaped cartouches depicting warriors on horseback in combat among pine and rockwork interspersed with panels of prunus, peonies and chrysanthemums issuing from rockwork below further panels of scholars and attendants, on grounds of tight scrolling lotus and foliage, the necks with bands of cell-pattern, all between key-fret and ruyi-head borders, on similar shaped stands with four scrolling feet -- 26½.in (67.3cm) high, early 19th Century, (chips, minor damages).
