A TIANHUANG ‘QILIN’ OVAL SEAL
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The seal knob is finely carved as a crouching qilin with a finely incised beard and its tail swished to one side. The seal face is carved in relief with a four-character inscription, jie xiu ning xiang (intense fragrance from blossoming flowers). One vertical side is incised with another four-character inscription chunxing caotang (Spring Constellations Cottage) followed by a signature Shixian (immortal of stone). The stone is of golden honey tone.
