EXCEPTIONAL WINE DIRECT FROM LA RIOJA ALTA
Quality, elegance, innovation, feeling, and evolution. These are the pillars on which five families
who shared a passion for wine founded the ‘Sociedad Vinícola de La Rioja Alta’ in 1890. Today, their
descendants are still major shareholders and involved in the running of the winery with exactly the
same dreams and commitment as their forefathers. Over more than 129 harvests, the permanent
search for excellence has driven this iconic house to mix the best of their wise wine-making
tradition – producing wine themselves in American oak barrels, traditional decanting, long periods
of ageing, and so on- with the most modern production technology as shown by their unswerving
commitment to R+D and innovation, and their sophisticated system of optical grape selection.

For La Rioja Alta, S.A., which today leads a family of wineries comprising Torre de Oña in Rioja
Alavesa, Áster in Ribera del Duero and Lagar de Fornelos in Rías Baixas, their own vineyard is one
of the key factors in producing high quality Rioja wine from only the best harvests. Nowadays,
this Station District winery owns more than 420 ha of vineyards in the best areas of La Rioja. The
Tempranillo grape dominates their vineyards but they also have other varieties such as Graciano,
Mazuelo, and Garnacha which show the recognisable personality of their brands: Gran Reserva
890, Gran Reserva 904, Viña Arana Gran Reserva, Viña Ardanza and Viña Alberdi.

La Rioja Alta, S.A. winery has a wealth of experience in wine tourism, offering their customers,
friends, intertnational winelovers and Members of the Club de Cosecheros - the oldest in Spain-
a unique experience at their premises, halls, tasting rooms, wine bar and private dining rooms.
Furthermore, their firm commitment to CSR is highlighted in their environmental actions and their
‘Viña Ardanza Solidario’ programme through which they dedicate 1% of their annual profits to an NGO
Developing agricultural projects in the Third World, for which they won the 2017 Empresa Social Award.
