Details
Blandy's, Lucious Solera 1808
Corroded and damaged metal capsule, faded label
Level base of neck
Tasting note: Expressive nose, touch of VA at first, then aromas of dried peaches and honey appear. Later on, the VA tone disappeared, and the sheer finesse of the nose came through. The taste is beautiful, intensely sweet with great length. For a Madeira, this is remarkably sweet, but what a treat. One of the best and most rare Malmseys I have tasted. Well balanced, sweet luscious (rightfully named!) fruit, a seductive richness which folds open like a flower and leaves you silent.
Last tasted with Dr Maliner, November 2015
