Lot Essay

The present sideboard, probably the very example exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in 1942 when Jacques Quinet was aged only 24, is a fascinating insight into the artist’s early works. Over the years his style became more neo-classical and linear but the L-shaped sabot, which became characteristical of his own style, is already part of his repertoire.
