RED, BLACK, BLUE AND WHITE CHALK ON FORMERLY BLUE PAPER, DATED '1745'
This winged putto is related to the figure of Love in Apollo and Clytia painted for the Royal Palace of Stockholm in 1745 at the request of superintendent Hårleman (Caviglia-Brunel, op. cit., no. P.172, ill.). Suzanna Caviglia suggests it is more of a ricordo because of the level of finish; the date at the bottom of the sheet, the technique and the harmonious composition. The sheet becomes a small full-blown painting probably to satisfy the will of a commissioner (op. cit.).

Ce putto ailé est à mettre en rapport avec la figure de L’Amour dans le tableau d’Apollon et Clytie peint pour le palais royal de Stockholm en 1745 à la demande du surintendant Hårleman (op. cit., no. P. 172, ill.). Suzanna Caviglia suggère qu’il s’agisse davantage d’un riccordo au vu du degrés de finition du dessin, de la date apposée au bas de la feuille, de la technique utilisée et de la composition des plus harmonieuses. La feuille devient un petit tableau à part entière sans doute pour satisfaire la demande d’un commanditaire.
