Lot Essay

The delicate rope carving and distinctive profile of the incurved arm supports relate these elegant fauteuils to an example by Antoine Gaillard (maître in 1781) illustrated in J. Nicolay, L'Art et la Manière des Maître Ebénistes au XVILLE Siècle, Paris, 1976, p. 190.
