MUGHAL OR DECCAN INDIA, 17TH-18TH CENTURY
Of typical form, each decorated with Arabic benedictory inscriptions, two with curved knuckle guards, four with suspension loops above their rounded pommels
The largest 7 ½ x 4 ¾in. (19 x 12cm.)
Engraved
The hilts are inscribed with a selection of Qur'anic verses, in particular the Throne verse, Qur'an II, sura al-baqara, , v. 255 and a selection of al-asma al-husna (99 Names of Allah)
