the arched case with fluted top and surmounted by a bird and a snake, with floral mounts to the sides, with outset finials on foliate scroll volutes to the front, glazed panels to the sides, on foliate cast base and rectangular white marble plinth with stylised scroll feet, the two white enamel dials set within a mask elaborately engraved with foliate scrolls, the time dial with Roman chapter ring, steel moon hands, with Brocot escapement to the recessed centre, the twin barrel movement with strike on bell, the calendar dial below with outside ring denoting month and equation of time, with further dials to the recessed centre for day of week and date, with moonphase above -- 20½in. (52cm.) high
