Lot Essay

Kept with the upmost care throughout the years, the present timepiece is assembled with the most desirable dial variation. The watch from the first series features a silvered dial with black hour markers filled with luminescent material - made in extremely small numbers - this rare variant destined to become one of the most desired of all 5204P for its rarity and functional beauty.

Part of the most coveted wristwatches of Patek Philippe's contemporary production, reference 5204P-001 was produced only from 2012 to 2015 with a very small production.

Reference 5204
The reference 5204 was released at the Basel show in 2012 in platinum version and powered by the highly complicated movement 29-535 PS Q, the very first in house movement fully developed by Patek Philippe which replaces the Lemania based 27-70 Q. The platinum version was discontinued in 2018.

Being the successor of the legendary 5004, the 5204 features a day/night indication instead of a 24 hour hand display. Made in 40 mm. case, the watch appears massive compared to the 36.7 mm. reference 5004 to keep with the modern trend. Numerous design improvements were made to the dial giving it an overall cleaner look and assisting in readability.
