A Royal Crown Derby twin-handled oviform vase and cover
painted by James Platts with Venus and Cupid, the reverse with ruins in landscape within oval panels of raised two-tone gilt sunbursts edged with leaves, on a plain ground gilt with vertival gilt lines below a blue ground band gilt with anthemions, between raised blue and gilt bands of acanthus leaves, with beaded handles, supported by a square base, domed cover, signed to both panels, printed iron red marks to cover and base, gilt mark to top of base, date codes for 1890 -- 40.5cm. high (cover chipped to interior rim, slight wear and minor firing faults, some deterioration to panels)
