A Sèvres style 'jewelled' portrait cup and saucer
painted with a quarter-length portrait of Mlle. Scudery within gilt oval panel, on a dark blue ground reserved with a band of raised gilt lines and foliage 'jewelled' in green and red between white beads, the saucer painted with flowers forming the monogram DS, titled Madame de Sévigué to the base, imitation gilt marks, the porcelain 18th century, the decoration later (some restoration to saucer, jewels lacking, some wear and firing faults)
