MARK OF THOMAS GILPIN, LONDON, 1749
Shaped oval, on four shell, scroll and and ears of wheat feet, the sides pierced with scrolls, with gadrooned border and shell shaped side handles, the overhead swing handle cast with rocaille motifs, engraved with an elaborate shell, scroll and vine cartouche enclosing a later coat-of-arms, marked underneath
