A YAOZHOU CARVED ‘RHINOCEROS’ BOWL
JIN DYNASTY (1115-1234)
The bowl is carved to the interior with a diamond-shaped cartouche enclosing a seated rhinoceros gazing up at a full moon, encircled by scrolls beneath the well, covered inside and out with a glossy olive-green glaze pooling at the recesses, the foot unglazed.
