The property of a private collection, this attractive chronograph is part of the popular reference 116519. Made in white gold, it is one of the desirable examples to be fitted with a Meteorite dial. Of added interest to collectors, the timepiece is offered with its original warranty, mentioning “Meteorite Roman” to certify the wristwatch was born with a dial in meteorite with applied white gold Roman numerals.

Being part of the reference 116519, the chronograph uses the caliber 4130. Circa 2000, Rolex offered several innovations through the appearance of the new in-house Rolex Caliber 4130, the model is thinner than previous Daytona models and furthermore encountered dial changes. In an effort to improve legibility, both subsidiary registers at 3 and 9 o’clock moved slightly upwards, the constant seconds register moved to 6 o'clock and the size of the hour and minute hand increased.

The firm obtained some of the famous Gibeon meteorite discovered in 1836 by Captain J. E. Alexander scattered along the banks of the Great Fish River in Namibia. The meteorite itself is millions of years old and believed to have fallen to earth in prehistoric times and spread over a wide area. Today, this historical deposit is protected by Namibian law.
