Lot Essay

Consigned by the original owner the present watch has never been offered in public before.

It is from the third series of the model, featuring cal. 330 SC movement which was made until 1997. The "sigma" symbols on either side of the designation "Swiss" on the dial indicates that the indexes are made of 18K white gold.

Reference 3800
Reference 3800/1 was in production from 1981 to 2006 and offered an alternative to larger sized “Jumbo” Nautilus watches. Considered three-quarter sized, it was available in a large array of styles in all four case metals as well as in two-tone cases.

The reference 3800 is an iconic and important watch suitably sized for a man's or lady's wrist. It pays homage to the original Nautilus reference 3700 with a similar design and aesthetic and with the addition of a centre seconds hand with the introduction of Patek Philippe's caliber 335 SC. The caliber was updated around 1992 and became caliber 330 SC, as featured in the present watch.
