Lot Essay

The paladium-plated, silvered version of the Hermès world time desk clock is much rarer than its more often found gilt brass sister model.

The celebrated house of Hermès was established in 1837 by Thierry Hermès as a saddle shop in Paris. In the 1920s, the firm made its entry into watchmaking through its famous watch straps, followed by the retailing of watches and clocks made by Swiss manufacturers such as Tavannes, Movado, Vacheron Constantin and others.
