DOMAINE JACQUES-FRÉDÉRIC MUGNIER
Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier is a family owned Domaine founded in 1863 by Frédéric Mugnier with the purchase of the Château de Chambolle-Musigny from the Marey-Mong family and vines in Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges.Today, the Domaine is based in Chambolle-Musigny and run by Frédéric Mugnier. In 2004 Frédéric Mugnier took back the monopole Clos de la Maréchale in Nuits-St.-Georges which had been leased to Domaine Faiveley for the 50 previous years.The Domaine owns 13.5 hectares of vineyards, including 1.13 hectares of Le Musigny, 0.35 hectares of Bonnes-Mares, the 10 hectares of Clos de la Maréchale in Nuits Saint Georges, and 4 hectares in Chambolle-Musigny. Frédéric Mugnier’s approach to both viticulture and wine-making is aimed at preserving in the wines the purest expression of nature with minimal interference from technological practices. JF Mugnier is perhaps best known for their superlative Musigny, but they should also be praised for their Bonnes Mares, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Amoureuses, Clos de la Maréchale and a range of other excellent wines from Chambolle and Nuits.
